This all started when I was looking for a house to move into this past
December. I had looked at a couple alone, but I wanted to bring my son
who is 2 yrs. old with me. I wanted to make sure he liked the place so
it would make my life easier. Well, we came to this house and at first,
my son would not even come through the door. I thought it was because
the landlord came and opened it and my son didn't know the man. When
we went into the house, you could tell it was built around the 1920's.
It's a pretty nice house and all. Little old, needs some work. But
it was okay.
At
that point, my son takes off running up and down the hallway. Back and
forth from one room to another. Starts going through the cabinets, drawers,
closets, everything. Just like he'd been here before. So I tell the man
it looks like he likes it but I'll have to see before I can sign a lease.
All the way home my son talked and talked about "Cowboy". Well,
that is what we call one of my brothers also, so we thought he was just
anxious to see him. The next day he gets out of bed and says, "We
go we house Momma. See Cowboy! Come on. Go we house! Peassssseeeeee Momma?"
I
was not sure what he was talking about. Well, two days later he was still
asking about "we house" and "cowboy". Then I found
out that I could get the house. So we came back to sign the lease and
get the final paperwork done. My son wanted to stay in the house that
night. He did not want to leave. He threw a fit like I had never seen
before over leaving.
For the first two weeks, I had to drive over almost every day to clean
the house. It wasn't nasty or anything, I just wanted to wash walls and
the likes. So I would bring my son. I noticed he would jabber like he
was playing with someone. Then I notice him standing at the window waving
and saying, "Bye Cowboy. Come back see me. Lub you Cowboy."
So I figured he must have seen a spirit here.
This
has been going on for almost a month now. And I'll ask from time to time
if Cowboy is here. My son will say yes sometimes, sometimes he'll say
no, and every once in awhile he'll shrug and go through the house calling
for him and come back to answer me yes or no. Well, today as I was doing
dishes, I saw a small child, a boy, run into the kitchen out of the corner
of my left eye. I thought it was my son but the sun coming in the window
was what made his hair look blonde instead of red like his is. So I turned
to my right because he always comes around me tugging on my pants as a
game. But there was no tug and nobody standing beside me. So I looked
back to my left. Still nobody. I turned completely around to look behind
me. Nobody. I went to the kitchen doorway and saw my son watching tv.
Completely absorbed in Jungle Book, so it couldn't have been him. Well,
I wasn't sure what was going on at first, but then I thought it must have
been Cowboy I had seen.
When
I got ready to fix lunch for my son, I pulled him into my lap and asked
him, "Is Cowboy here with us today?" He answered, "Yes."
I said, "Would Cowboy like to eat lunch with you today?" He
said, "Ew eat ish me Cowboy?" Then looked at me and said, "Cowboy
eat ish me Momma." I said, "Okay then. Does Cowboy eat chicky
nuggets like you do?" My son said, "Ew eat chicky nuggs Cowboy?"
Then answers me with another yes. So I put a few extra nuggets on the
cookie sheet for Cowboy. When I put them on the plate to put on the table
to divide out between the three of us, my son take the entire plate and
says, "Thank you Momma. Me and Cowboy eat now." The only nuggets
gone were the ones my son ate, but he and Cowboy sat in the living room
and ate without me.
Now
I've noticed things going on with the gas wall heater we have in the back
of the house that heats the bedrooms. Sometimes the flame will flicker
like its going out when I pass. Sometimes me passing doesn't bother it.
Sometimes it will flicker without anyone being near it. So I just figured
drafts until I got plastic up over all my windows and got padding around
the doors.
The
plastic on my son's bedroom windows came loose from sweating. It was the
kind you use a hair dryer on. So tonight when I went to close off his
bedroom, because we're sleeping in my room, I took a minute to talk to
Cowboy myself. I know this sounds stupid, but I said, "Okay Cowboy...
I don't want you to think I'm trying to lock you up in here alone and
cold. But I'm closing off this room until I get new plastic for the windows.
You are welcome to come get in to bed with us if you want. But if you
don't want to, the heater for the water bed is on and there are plenty
of covers on the bed. I'll leave the closet door open so you can get the
toys out easily. I'll leave the light on in the fish tank for you to see
by too. Now, you decide where you're sleeping and I'll give you a minute
to get out the door if you're coming with us."
Well,
when I closed the door, the flame flickered on the heater. It sits between
my room and my son's at the end of the hallway. So I figured Cowboy came
out with me. When my son fell asleep, I went to my room to turn the electric
blanket on to warm the bed for him before putting him in. I passed the
heater, but it did not flicker. I gave it about 15 minutes. and took my
son back to the bed. I asked Cowboy to come on and get in bed with him
then. When we passed the heater, it flickered. I tucked my son in, then
I held the covers for Cowboy to get in beside him. When I came out and
passed the heater, there was no flickering.
Now,
I am guessing Cowboy must have lived here at one time and has befriended
my son. I could have gotten a much nicer house for $25 extra a month,
but my son didn't like it like he does this one. So, as far as I know
it is the three of us living here. Everything is going good so I won't
complain or try to get Cowboy out. As long as he doesn't harm my son and
isn't mean to him, Cowboy and any other spirit that wishes, are welcome
to live with us. As long as they remember not to hurt my son or get nasty
with him I will not do anything to try to make them leave.
